Frequently Asked Questions

How do I schedule my first visit?Give us a call at (530) 280-1147. We will discuss the most important details about your pet and home needs. We will also address all of your questions to make sure Tender Touch Pet Services is a good fit for you and for your fur baby's health and safety.
After our initial conversation, we will schedule a complimentary Meet & Greet where we come to your home to familiarize ourselves with your home and most importantly, spend time getting to know your pet(s). In addition, if we have questions about your instructions, we can get clarification.

How far in advance do I need to schedule a visit?We try our best to always have availability but sometimes we do book up. It is always best to schedule your services with as much advance notice as possible to ensure we are available.
You can also set up recurring services if you have consistent schedule needs. Just set up your service schedule once and then you are always guaranteed your spot. If you need to schedule a service that will occur within less than 24 hours, you can only do so by calling our office at (530) 280-1147. If we have the availability to accommodate your request, there will be a "late booking fee" of $10.00 added to your visit.

Can I mix and match visit lengths?Absolutely! Feel free to customize your visits to best suit your pet(s) needs.

Do you offer pet sitting over the holidays?Yes! We offer pet sitting for all major holidays with an additional daily fee of $15.00 for New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, 4th of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.

Do I need to give you a key?The safety of your home is a top priority for us. if you use keys for entry to your home Tender Touch Pet Services requires TWO working keys, no exception. Both keys will be coded to reveal no personal information (name and address) and kept in our office in a secure lockbox. Keys must be provided at the initial consultation.
If you live in a gated community, you must provide a gate card, remote, or access code. We will not access your home via the leasing office, calling you, or receiving access through a concierge.

What is your cancellation policy?The sooner you let us know, the better. We reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee of 50% of the scheduled visit for cancellations less than 24 hours before the scheduled service.

When will I get updates from my sitter?Your sitter will send picture updates from every visit. We want to make sure you see cute photos of your fur babies while you are away. Be sure to let us know if you do not receive visit updates!

Should I pet proof my house?If your dog(s) tend to get into things, there are a few basic steps you can take to keep your pet(s) safe. (1) Close bathroom doors. (2) Keep any medications, treats, pill pockets, etc. out of sight. (3) Keep all supplies and food in cabinets and label the cabinet with a post-it note. (4) Empty trash cans and clean the sinks.

What happens during inclement weather?Your pet's safety is our top priority! In extreme weather, we may modify the time we spend outdoors and then enjoy indoor playtime for the remainder of the visit. Please be sure to have a towel out so we can clean muddy, wet paws. If conditions are unsafe for travel, we will notify you as early as possible that your scheduled visits may be delayed or canceled so that you can make other arrangements.

What are your hours?When your pet(s) are in our care, we are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
